Seavera: Sat, 14th September @ Southside Tea Room

Words by Scenewave Australia - Published on September 17, 2013

Saturday was the launch of Brisbane singer/songwriter Tori Lee’s new project “Seavera” at Southside Tea Room. The organic colas flowed readily and $5 hot dogs sizzled behind the bar; the pinball machine was nestled quitely in the corner, right next to an old fridge labelled ‘board games’.  Owned and managed by The Grates, this tender and kooky little teahouse embodied Seavera, and made for the perfect place to launch her project.

Her sweet exquisite guitar work filled the room, with a small yet utterly captivated audience. Her song influences ranged from TED talks to obscure Australian poetry, and she bent and stretched these ideas into rich and powerful lyrics. With a voice that could melt your heart and finger picking a la Jose Gonzalez, it is hard not to fall headfirst into her songs.

Supporting her was Wolf & Napoleon, formerly of The Medics, who performed amazingly and warmed up the crowd with his powerful vocals. She was also joined by three other talented singers, who formed her backing band.
