Here you go Scenewavers, a compiled a list of some of the very best album releases for July and August. Get excited, and get ready to buy/stream/steal some incredible music. Including Magic Man, Sticky Fingers, Bear In Heaven, Spoon, #1 Dads, FKA Twigs, Cymbals Eat Guitars and The New Pornographers.

Magic Man Before The Waves July 8th

This Boston dance band are bringing it all on their first full length album. The hype has been building since their infectious debut single “Paris” from last year’s EP. Two singles from the newy are up on soundcloud, “It All Starts Here” and “Out Of Mind”. Notably, it’s being released by one of our very favourite labels- Neon Gold!

Sticky Fingers Land Of Pleasure August 1st

Newtown strikes again, Sydney’s Sticky Fingers will release their sophmore album very very soon. These true blue reggae psych rockers have been on the rise in the last few years and will be touring in September.

Bear In Heaven Time Is Over One Day Old Aug 5th

Get ready for the new Psych Drone Pop offering from one of our very favourite bear based bands. They’ve drawn comparisons to Pink Floyd and Genesis, and are no strangers to the game of album creation with three LPs already under their belt. Their spacey shoegaze vibes have always been etched with unpolished experimentation, and I’m itching to see what they’ve done with the new album. They’ve said this:

“We’re setting aside the things that most people focus on, staking our claim in some ethereal place”

Spoon They Want My Soul Aug 5th

Teaming up with producer Dave Fridmann (Flaming Lips, Sparklehorse, Mogwai): Good Move Spoon. Since Transference in 2010, we haven’t heard a peep from these critically acclaimed rockers. Their new single “Rent I Pay” is fantastic. They’ve gone back to basics, with classic rock and roll:

#1 Dads About Face August 8th

mmmmmm Dads. Big Scary’s Tom Lansek is in charge of this baby, and he’s killing it.

FKA Twigs LP1 August 12th

Soul sex electric. Her smooth voice melts like beeswax, honey pouring forth into deep electronic beats. Debut album LP1 will be released through Young Turks.

Cymbals Eat Guitars LOSE August 26th

NY indie rockers are set to release LOSE through Barsuk records, also home to Big Scary, Death Cab For Cutie and American Analog set. It’s going to be an album about loss, coupled with hectic guitar solos and Jospeh D’Agostino’s distinctive voice. Shit yeah.

The New Pornographers Brill Bruisers August 26th

Brill Bruisers is set to be released with 3D glasses, 3D posters and paint splattered vinyl. Leadsinger A.C Newman says of the album:

“After periods of difficulty, I am at a place where nothing in my life is dragging me down and the music reflects that”
