It’s been a while since we heard any new music from Newtown alt-rock veterans The Whitlams, but their live performance is still as strong and engaging as ever. Following an orchestral tour last year that saw them playing with the likes of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and the Melbourne Pops Orchestra, their forthcoming October tour is sure to be a little more low-key, and a lot more intimate.

Starting on October 10, the boys will be back to blast out the classic Aussie tracks that we’ve come to know and love over the years. Playing at small, unassuming fortresses for a band of their calibre, it’s sure to be a fantastic set of shows, littered with great banter from frontman Tim Freedman.

There aren’t that many bands who are as strong and loved by fans today as they were in their late-‘90s heyday, but The Whitlams are certainly one of them.
