New single: TRAEDONYA! ‘Another Lie’

Care to be whisked back a couple of decades into a smoky jazz bar, a whisky in one hand and a cigar in the other? If so, let the smooth funk offerings of TRAEDONYA! transport you there, with her new single Another Lie. If you’re sceptical that anyone in 2014 can replicate those good old days, put your fears to rest. Because it’s not as if she hasn’t had experience in the field – by the time she was 13 she had already recorded her cult classic Do the Boogaloo in the late 80s. Now nearly 30 years later, she is releasing her debut digital EP ‘High Fructose Corn Syrup’.

Her name TRAEDONYA! sums up her sound – big, bold with an exclamation mark added just to be sure. Her latest track is everything you could want in a jazz song; a veritable chorus of trumpets blasting through the back, scornful lyrics inspired by a lying man and a betrayed woman, and of course the vocals to challenge any of the great jazz singers. With such a thumping debut single, there is much to be looking forward to when the EP ‘High Fructose Corn Syrup’ drops later this year. And not only because we’re incredibly curious as to how she came up with that EP name.
