Cut Copy Presents: Oceans Apart

Words by Scenewave Australia - Published on October 14, 2014

Deep inside a sweaty, Melbourne club late at night the lead singer of Cut Copy, Dan Whitford, turned to his friend with the music thumping around him and shouted ‘the dance scene in Melbourne has gotten so interesting over the past few years–someone should really document this!’

Before he knew it, the idea for Oceans Apart was in motion. Inspired by the very city that shaped their sound so many years ago, Cut Copy are returning to their roots and are set to release a compilation documenting the vibrant, changing landscape of the Melbourne dance scene. In a statement, Dan Whitford described how it ‘continues to inspire and surprise us, with new music constantly bubbling to the surface’.

Cuty Copy attempt to capture a few of these bubbling artists in the 19 track compilation, one of which can be streamed before its release on November 11.
