Weekly Playlist 100

Words by Scenewave Oz - Published on August 3, 2015

It’s been a long time. A year and a half after the release of the 99th Weekly Playlist, we’ve managed to make it to 100. When Giffo, the man, the myth, the legend, was writing these up they were a constant source of musical goodness for me as well as many others I’m sure. So keep your eye out as we start it back up again every week, bringing you new tunes from the last couple of weeks as well as a couple of oldies. We’ll be looking at creating a Spotify Playlist some time soon as well, so stay tuned!

Newish Music

Kurt Vile – Pretty Pimpin’
It was today announced that Kurt will be bringing himself and the Violators to our shores for some Falls and Southbound shows. This first taste of his new album means we’re probably in for a good time.

Mac DeMarco – I’ve Been Waiting for Her
Mac at his best, off his upcoming mini LP. Keeping with the Falls theme here.

FIDLAR – West Coast
FIDLAR will melt your face off, or as Giffo found out, make you lose your glasses in the mosh. More stuff from an upcoming album, Too, coming soon.

Jamie XX – I Know There’s Gonna Be (Good Times) – Dre Skull Remix
You’ve all probably heard and loved this song, but Jamie has been begun playing this Dre Skull remix live recently, with an excellent extended intro as well as additional guest appearances from plenty of Dancehall mainstays. No recorded version has been released yet so this is as good as we’ll get for now, but it’s definitely worth a listen.

The Rest

Toro Y Moi – Rose Quartz
“The rest” this week will be a couple of tunes from some killer artists coming our way for Falls. Toro Y Moi is one of them.

Young Fathers – Shame
Hip hop triumvirate from Edinburgh. Definitely worth checking out some of their older stuff too.

King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard – Hot Water
Good name.

That’s it for now, but keep checking back for your weekly needs.
