Future Music Festival – 1st Lineup Announcement

Words by Scenewave Australia - Published on October 10, 2012

Well, this lineup has quite frankly left us extremely confused… There are some acts that give us the horn and make us wanna snatch up a ticket straight away, namely The Stone Roses (fuuuarrrkkkkk), Bloc Party, Gypsy & The Cat, The Temper Trap and The Prodigy. But then you have acts like Psy… which tends to make us think ‘what the fuck is this just a massive gee-up – where’s Ashton Kutcher, are we being Punk’d?’

Apart from that one massive brain-snap from the Future Music team we’re absolutely pumped for those names listed. The Stone Roses’ self-titled record is one of the best albums ever released, pretty much starting bands like Oasis and the 90s Brit-Rock scene (don’t tell Liam Gallagher that I said that). So we’re hoping that their years in hiatus haven’t rendered their ability to rock out and deliver “Fool’s Gold” in full.

After their men’al headline tour at Splendour in the Grass, Bloc Party proved why they’re still one of the best live bands in the world, and we can only assume the same treatment from Kele and the gang this coming March. The response to their new record Four has been very favourable and we can’t wait for them to return.

The Prodigy will also be something to look forward to if their show’s anything like their last Future show a couple of years ago. Circle-pits in the mud last time made for a wild old time and that crazy prick of a lead singer doesn’t seem to be settling down at all with age so bring your wellies, Neil.

The full lineup is as follows (in no particular order of preference):
