Weekly Playlist 89

Words by Richard Gifford - Published on February 13, 2013

Weekly Playlist 89 features Local Natives, The Griswolds, Dan Croll, Foals, Mitzi, Jagwar Ma and Half Moon Run.

Local Natives – Columbia

EPIC! Love this tune and the entire record. The more atmospheric vibe they’ve got going on Hummingbird is amazing. Dessner has had quite the influence.

The Griswolds – The Courtship of Summer Preasley

Getting a lot of heat on the j’s at the moment and deservedly so. You may have heard this tune in the Wet n Wild advert – a summer classic.

Dan Croll – From Nowhere

Have a dance to this if you want. Your own decisions…

Mitzi – Truly Alive

These guys have just supported Foals for their recent Australian tour. LCD Soundsystem and Bloc Party anyone?

Foals – Providence

Current fav from Holy Fire. Can’t get over the drum solo at the end, then the hectic breakdown. Heaviest stuff they’ve done I reckon.

Jagwar Ma – Come Save Me

These guys have been tipped by NME as one of the bands to watch for 2013. Coined as the electro Tame Impala…

Half Moon Run – Call Me In The Afternoon

Gareth interviewed these guys a couple of weeks back. Really cool Canadian alt-rock group. Folky Radiohead comparisons. Don’t listen if you hate fucking amazing harmonies.

A passionate music enthusiast who unashamedly knows every word to "Wham Rap". Loves guitar, travel and the idea of graduating uni.
