New Music | Kodaline – High Hopes EP

Words by Scenewave Oz - Published on March 21, 2013

Dubliners Kodaline are set for a huge 2013, with the lads just releasing their second EP, High Hopes, this week.

Selling out shows throughout America and their NME awards shows here in London, they’re creating a massive buzz at the moment, and it’s a buzz they deserve.

Already giving us their self titled EP back in September last year, with early Coldplay-esque tunes ‘All I Want’ and ‘Perfect World’, High Hopes continues the incredible momentum they’ve built. With three original tracks plus a cover of LCD Soundsystem‘s near-perfect tune, ‘All My Friends’, the Irish four piece wind us on a chilled out safari over 18 minutes. Comparisons flying towards them early on include one site dubbing their sound, “halfway between Oasis‘s brand of high/fly/sky banal uplift and Coldplay’s soaring tedium.” We like to think they’re moulding their own unique landscape.

Fresh off  having just played this year’s massive SXSW, Kodaline have already been announced for a number of big UK festivals, including Isle of Wight and Hard Rock Calling. I reckon it won’t be long until they venture down under to show their amazing talents..Laneway perhaps!

Their debut album, In A Perfect World, drops on June 10th, so keep this date free for a free eargasm.
