Weekly Playlist 82 features Yeasayer, The Owls, The Good China, ∆ (alt-J), The Orwells, Howler & Ball Park Music.
The Good China – We Knew That We Had To Leave
Their new single “We Knew That We Had To Leave” from their forthcoming second EP. MZ
Howler – Wailing (Making Out)
Shows off lead singer Jordan Gatesmith’s range amazingly. Ridiculously voice for a young lad, and at 1:39 he screams and it might as well be Casablancas himself, raw and powerful. Great end to a cracking tune. RG
Yeasayer – Blue Paper
My favourite from their third studio album. Love the direction these guys have gone in, they always challenge their listeners and it’s got such a groovy, catchy chorus. RG
∆ (alt-J) – Breezeblocks
Took me ages to get into this one. It’s such a different sound but after a few listens you can’t stop. Check out the rest of the record as well! RG
The Owls – Better Off Deaf
Driving bass line, grungy guitar riff and solid drums, The Owls have truly delivered on their promise of bringing a unique alternative style that proves both dark and melodic. MZ
The Orwells – Mallrats (La La La)
Was put onto these guys by a Father John Misty tweet, and I’ve been addicted ever since. Just a bunch of 17 year olds out of Chicago, who’ve obviously listened to a lot of Sex Pistols, Pixies and Joy Division. RG
Ball Park Music – Surrender
The first single from their upcoming sophomore album. Awesome harmonies as always, great buildup. Can’t stop playing this tune. RG
